Genesis 22:14 and Abraham calleth the name of that place `Jehovah-Jireh,' because it is said this day in the mount, `Jehovah doth provide.' -- Young's Literal Translation.
The designation in this scripture, "Jehovah-jireh" (meaning "Jehovah provides"), is being used in connection with Hebrews 10:12 as an alleged "proof" that since Jehovah and Jesus are both the provider of the sacrifice, then Jesus is Jehovah.
Jehovah-Jireh, often mistakingly spoken of as a "name" for God, is the name that Abraham called the place in the mountain in which he was to offer up his son Isaac. (Hebrews 11:17; James 2:21) Yahweh (Jehovah) saw that Abraham was faithful in obedience and provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice.
In this scene we have two types, one in which Abraham offers his son, Isaac, and another in which Yahweh provides a ram for Abraham to sacrifice.
In the first picture, Abraham is a type of Yahweh, who offers up his son, Isaac (Isaac 11:17; James 2:21), as a type of Christ, for sacrifice. -- John 3:16,17; 10:36; 1 John 4:9,10,14.
In the second picture, Yahweh provides a ram (a lamb), who is offered up in the sacrifice. The ram provides a type of the lamb of God, the sinless, incorrupt, fleshly body that was provided by God for Jesus (Matthew 1:20; John 6:33,51; Hebrews 10:5), that Jesus offered up to his God and Father in sacrifice. (John 6:51,53; Ephesians 5:2; 1 Timothy 2:5,6; Hebrews 9:14; 10:10,12) Thus in this second picture, Abraham is also a type of Christ offering up himself, his incorrupt human flesh, in sacrifice to his God and Father. Thus seen, while Jesus offers up this sacrifice, he is not the original provider of that which was sacrificed, for it was Yahweh his God who was the original provider.
There is nothing in any of this that means that Jesus is Yahweh his God to whom Jesus offered himself in sacrifice. As with the rest of the scriptures, the idea has to be added to, and read into, what the scriptures say.
