2 Samuel 22:1
David spoke to Yahweh the words of this song in the day that Yahweh delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul
2 Samuel 22:2
and he said, Yahweh is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, even mine;
2 Samuel 22:3
God, my rock, in him will I take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation [Hebrew, Yesha`, Strongs' #3468], my high tower, and my refuge; My savior [Yasha`, Strong's #3467], you save [Yasha`, Strong's #3467] me from violence.
It is being claimed that in the above words that David called upon the name of Jesus long before Jesus was born, and by this the claim is made that Yawheh is Jesus.
Actually, the only name that David called upon here was Yahweh, and it is Yahweh that David refers to as salvation (deliverance), savior (delivering [one]), the one to whom the word "save" is applied. The name Jesus [as usually rendered in English], is taken from the Hebrew word usually rendered in English as Joshua. Although the name "Jesus" often given the meaning of "savior", the name "Jesus" actually means more than just savior. It means "Yah[weh] is savior," or "Yah saves." The Hebrew words Yesha' and/or Yasha' does not express the full name of Jesus, but are simply the words used to express salvation (noun) or savior, save (verb). These words are used of many people in the Old Testament without any thought of being applied to these people as a name, nor does David's reference to Yahweh with these words mean that David was calling upon the name of Jesus.
