The Six-Pointed Star
"Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of your Moloch [ftn: "i.e., Milcom. Others render it 'your king'], and Chiun [ftn: Some understand Chiun as the 'stand of the idol.' The LXX reads, 'star of your god Remphan:' see Acts 7:43] your images, the star of your god, which ye had made to yourselves." -- Amos 5:26, Darby Translation
Unless otherwise stated, all Biblical quotations are from the World English Bible translation.
While the tide of opinion seems to be to accept the six-pointed star as a genuine and scriptural emblem, we feel we must speak out for what we perceive could be another of Satan's attempts to involve and deceive God's people in becoming sharers in another form of idolatry. There are many assumptions concerning this alleged "Star of David" that many are making, and we have to ask: What is the real meaning and history behind this symbol? We must admit that we cannot give definite answers in all cases, but we do need to identify actual known facts and separate the facts from assumptions, and not let assumptions override the facts.
While it is important to know the history behind this symbol, it is not important to know this history to realize that this symbol is at present highly treated in the manner of an idol in many pagan, Jewish and even Christian circles, with claims of magical or supernatural powers being supposedly derived therefrom. Thus regardless of its history, we believe a Christian should take notice of this lest they become sharers in the idolatry of others. By this we do not mean that a Christian has to bow before, pray to, or seek power from, the idol in order to share in the idolatry of another. We can share in the idolatry of another by just seemingly giving endorsement to their idolatry as Paul shows in 1 Corinthians chapters 8 and 10. See: Idolatry Provokes Yahweh's Anger* As Paul states, however, we know an idol is nothing in itself; but with this knowledge, and even though we give no regard to a symbol as a idol, we can still be sharers in the idolatry of others if give an impression in their minds of endorsement of their idolatry. (1 Corinthians 8:4-13; 10:28,29 - the last part of verse 28 in the KJV is spurious.) Why should we allow our freedom to come under judgment because we make ourselves sharers in the idolatry of another by seeming to endorse their corrupt conscience concerning idolatry? It is for this reason Paul warns: "Flee from idolatry." (1 Corinthians 10:14) and "I don't desire that you would have communion [sharing] with demons." (1 Corinthians 10:20) While we have much love for our brothers and sisters who seem to be engrossed with symbols of this sort, we feel we must sound the warning, as Paul did to our brothers of the first century: "Flee from idolatry."

We present below some references concerning this:
"The six-pointed star is a pagan symbol of a pagan religion going back before the time of Christ." "The prophet Amos denounces our ancestors, the true Israelites ... who had fallen into idolatry.... (Amos 5:21-27)" "This is the same star of Rempham of which St. Stephen accused the high priests of worshipping in their temples and synagogues. In fact, St. Stephen was quoting from the prophet Amos when he scolded the high priests for their infidelilty and hypocrisy."*

The following two sites show that the six-pointed star (hexagram) is still being used in pagan idolatrous worship to this day:

The following book gives an extensive and accurate history of the "Six-pointed star". The author, however, concludes that this star is itself the "Mark of the Beast", to which we have to disagree. Otherwise, it is of value for its historical presentation.
Six-Pointed Star: Its Origin and Usage by Dr. O. J. Graham. Some comments concerning this book: "This book is historically true, and well-documented. I checked all the references. The information is very surprising, but true." "The Six-Pointed Star by Dr. O. J. Graham is an excellent book.Well-documented. References are accurate." "This book is a concise history of the origin and usage of the six-pointed star or hexagram, and is fully documented." About the Author: "Dr. O. J. Graham is an investigative journalist with five academic degrees which include psychology, English, and Theology. Dr. Graham is well-known for in depth research, and accurate reports with irrefutable documentation."
"Despite its name, the association of the six-pointed star with the Jewish people is relatively recent."

"Star of David", by Rabbi Amy R. Scheinerman
http://scheinerman.net/judaism/rituals/star.html Please note that this is a Jewish source.
"The Messianic movement heavily promotes the Star of David, which is the pagan Star of Remphan which incurred God's judgment on the apostate Israelites during their wanderings in the wilderness. Recall the aforementioned youth who chose the Star of David for his tattoo? "'I wanted a tattoo for a long time, for solely non-Christian reasons,' says [this youth], 17. 'But God is my life, so everything I do reflects that.' The result? A Star of David with 'Jesus' tattooed on the outside of his calf." Where did this young man conceive of the idea to have a Star of David branded on his leg? No doubt through exposure to the pernicious influence of the Messianic movement. This Judaizing movement, which has infiltrated Charismania is actually Kabbalisim in disguise, glorifying the ancient false gods which Israel was forbidden to worship." -- See Leviticus 19:28.

"A hexagram is made of two triangles, one superimposed on the other. This is used in magic to master spirits. The hexagram's two triangles, one pointing up and one pointing down, combine ABOVE and BELOW, and so it is a symbol of man as God. It is used in SATANIC OCCULTS because it combines male (THE TRIANGLE POINTING UP) and the female (THE ONE POINTING DOWN). These triangles are the symbols for FIRE and WATER."

"The so-called star of David is actually the six pointed star of the god Remphan associated with the worship of the cultic system of Baal and Ashtoreth or Moloch or Milcom. It represents death and blood and fertility through human sacrifice. The symbol entered Judaism via Kabbalistic traditions and is now associated with biblical Judaism when nothing could be further from the truth."

The Pinata: http://www.logon.org/english/s/p276.html
"The Star of David is a hexa-angular star, also called hexagram. This hexagram was used during the ancient history as a magical sign by among others by the Greek, Romans and the Babylonians, and taken over later by among others the Jews. In the Middle ages the Jews used the hexagram specifically to the following three ends:
- as a decoration, and in particular as a graphical picture of a rose with six half round leaves;
- as a magical symbol. Thus pregnant women used the image of an hexagram as protection for the unborn child; others used it as a deterrant against demons;
- as an astrological symbol, and in particular as a graphical picture of the sun or a big star."

"History of the Star of David"
http://www.euronet.nl/users/pi_alfa/david1e.htm
Some have enquired: According to some sources, the star of David is found in ancient synagogues. Doesn't this prove that it is of Jewish origin?
There are also reports of swastikas being found in ancient synagogues. Additionally we have reports of the six-pointed-star being found in ancient heathen temples. It is stated in the Bible that when "Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Yahweh his God, as was the heart of David his father. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.... Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon. So did he for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods." (1 Kings 11:4) Amos reported of their use of a star as a power (EL - God). (Amos 5:26) After returning from Babylon, they again fell into apostasy and occultism. The evidence shows that many of the Pharisees belonged to the Jewish occult group, the Cabal. We know how strongly Jesus condemned the Pharisees and Sadducees, even telling them that their Father was the devil. (John 8:44; Matthew 23:13-33) Therefore, any archaeological finds in these apostate Jewish synagogues do not necessarily provide any proof that this symbol is of Jewish origin, for these very same finds could be proof of the Jewish apostasy by which they adopted heathen idols.
